Exciting active holiday new hiking experience in the best places of the Macedonian mountain ranges. Forest massifs, cultural churches, and the best peaks of the region all in this amazing trip. The mountain peaks we will hike up during the trip are Medenica in National park Mavrovo, Magaro peak in National Park Galicica, Jablanica mountain on the border with Albania and Macedonia and hike to the lake in National Park Pelister.These mountains not only offer beautiful views they are also full of history and culture, interesting flora and fauna of the region, including many endemic species. Five days will be dedicated to the hike among this fantastic mountain ranges visiting old villages Galicnik and Malovista and explore city Ohrid a UNESCO protected cultural heritage city. Stay in cities Bitola, Skopje village Galicnik learning about the Macedonian culture and tradition, tasting Macedonian food and vine.

Short Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Macedonia, pick up from the airport, and transfer to Mavrovo National Park 1.30h. Drive to the hotel in the village of Galicnik at the foot of the mountain.

Day 2: We are in National Park Mavrovo, the first peak for this hiking trip is Medenica Peak 2.163m. We start with hiking from the hotel in the village of Galicnik from 1560m. The duration of the hike is 4 to 5 hours, with a total length of 10km. with an altitude change of 603m. After descending from the peak we have 2h. transfer to Ohrid City. As part of our transfer to Ohrid, we will stop for refreshments and coffee, and visit the old monastery, St.John Baptist.

Day 3: Ohrid City will be our base for the next days of the tour. Today we are hiking on Magaro Peak 2255m. at Galicica National Park. We will have 40min. drive to the starting point of the hike at 1600m. Duration of the today’s hike is 4 to 5 hours total length of 8.5km. with an altitude change of 700m and beautiful views of the two biggest lakes in Macedonia Ohridsko and Pespansko Lake.

Day 4: In Jablanica mountain we hike to the peak called Crn Kamen or black stone on the border with Macedonia and Albania. The trail is 12km. long, with a height difference of 837 meters, and with a 5-6 hour hike.

Day 5: It’s planned to enjoy a fine rest day in the city of Ohrid and the surrounding. We have an option for a guided city tour followed by a fine lunch by the lake. Or we can have other activities like Boat sailing, kayaking, sup riding, etc.

Day 6: We check out from the hotel in Ohrid and we go hiking In the old village Maloviste to the peak above the village called Vrteska 2010m. 12km. the length of the hike, with a 620m altitude difference. After the hike, we continue to the city of Bitola.

Day 7: The last hiking day we go to the big mountain lake at 2218m. National Park Pelister. The duration of the hike for today is 6-7 h. Length 12 km. 1048 m. altitude difference. When we end the hike we have to transfer to Skopje city where we will spend the last night of this trip.

Day 8: Transport to the airport.
