Between the two biggest lakes in Macedonia, Prespa lake and Ohrid lake are the two National Parks Pelister and Galicica. Pelister peak with 2601m. is the highest peak on the Baba mountain massif a mountain range that extends all the way to Greece. Galicica National Park with the highest peak Magaro 2255m. It is situated in the outermost southwest part of Macedonia between the two lakes it’s a mountain range stretching across the border of Albania and the Republic of Macedonia. An exciting way to spend three days with activities hiking, swimming, and tasting homemade food and vine in one of the most beautiful regions in Macedonia.
Day 1: Ohrid Galichica We meet in Ohrid City. After we have 40min. drive to the starting point of the hike to the peak Magaro 2255m. Duration of the today’s hike is 4 to 5 hours total length of 8.5km. start altitude is 1600m. altitude change is 700m. from the peak beautiful views of the two biggest lakes in Macedonia Ohridsko and Pespansko Lake. From the peak, we go back to the other side of the mountain to village Brajcino close to the border with Grece and coast of Prespa Lake. Here we will spend the night at the guest house and try homemade dinner.
Day 2: Big lake mountain hut After breakfast from Brajcino village, we start climbing to the mountain hut by the big mountain lake at 2218 m. we are hiking close to the border line with Greece and on the way up we enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains and Prespa Lake. We rest and enjoy by the coast of the lake. After dinner we sleeping in the mountain hut. This day is moderate hike with Ascending 1218m. 13km. long and 5-6h. hiking.
Day 3: Pelister peak After breakfast, we start hiking to the peak at 2601 m. we have two hours to the peak Pelister. Beautiful view from the peak of the surrounding mountains and the view reaches as far as Mount Olympus in Greece. We descend from the peak and we can have a short tour in the city of Bitola before we transfer to Ohrid. This is moderate hike 6 hours duration; 19km. long; 400m. ascending and 1200m descending.
Participants will need to arrive in Skopje or Ohrid airport on or before Start date. We will return to Skopje or Ohrid return at the customer’s request by late afternoon/evening on one day before departures on the airport.
